Last day of school

Our last day of school was May 23. Lucas finished kindergarten, Isabel finished 1st grade and Connor finished 4th grade. Overall, they all had great years.

Lucas highlights: making new friends, becoming a great reader, excelling at writing

Isabel highlights: going to school every day, making a ton of new friends, testing into GT, doing Odyssey of the Mind, being a top reader and speller, being chosen to share a piece of writing in front of the entire first grade by a nationally known children's author who was visiting the school

Connor highlights: joining band and loving it (first the trumpet and then the snare drum), 3rd year Chess Club, Junior Great Books, getting letter grades for the first time, and getting all As on his last two report cards, having his first real crush on a very sweet and darling girl named Meg, becoming really into tetherball

The last day of school for us is always a half day, followed by the all-school picnic. Lucas' and Isabel's teachers did slide shows that the parents were invited to watch. The kids loved these; they were darling.

Lucas with Brian and Mason, his best friend David, his teacher Miss McCaffrey-

Isabel with friends, Mason at her desk, her teacher Mrs. Wingfield, lots of friends, and her GT teacher Mr. Stover-

Connor with his teacher Mrs. Katz, and doing one of his favorite things, tetherball-

At the picnic-

and our second annual welcome to summer banner greeted them when we got home; Brian helped me with this year's, and then we had root beer floats to celebrate great school years.

And thus we have summer! I love it more and more as the kids get older. I was as ready for it as they were.
