It was time to say goodbye to my parents, the northwoods, the lakes, the mosquitoes, and everything else up north. We had a great time.
Driving back through Minneapolis, where I lived for 6 years-
After a long day of driving, we stopped at a Lewis and Clark monument in Council Bluffs, Iowa, overlooking the Missouri River. Just below these bluffs is the place L&C held council with the Native Americans. Amazing spot; gorgeous foliage, beautiful monument, great views of Council Bluffs, the Missouri, and downtown Omaha. Although humid and buzzing with cicadas, this was a memorable spot for us.
We spent the night in Grand Island, Nebraska, after debating whether we should drive through all night or not. Common sense got the better of us around 11 p.m. and we decided to be safe and crash for the night.
